COME TOGETHER WITH OTHERS FROM LOCAL UNITED CHURCHES TO BE TRAINED IN MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID.

You will be trained in the recognized Mental Health First Aid course of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, by Dr Julie Clayton of Tipping Point — and with the added bonus of taking the program with other people of faith.

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO:

  • Recognize the symptoms of mental health problems
  • Provide initial help
  • Guide a person towards appropriate professional help

This unique opportunity to learn alongside other United Church people, in our Christian context, will be especially beneficial for those offering pastoral care, people in front line work, reception, thrift store, food programs, family ministry and beyond.

IN THIS 12-HOUR, 2-DAY WORKSHOP YOU CAN LEARN TO:

  • Preserve the life of someone who may be in danger to themselves or others
  • Provide help to prevent the mental health problem from becoming more serious
  • Promote the recovery of good mental health
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to a person who is experiencing a mental health problem.

We have confirmed the following Winter/Spring dates & locations for the Mental Health Training, with 3 being offered on Vancouver Island:
