In 1989, the Berlin Wall fell, signalling an end to the Cold War and a victory for the long nonviolent resistance to communism in Eastern Europe.

O Lord, let my soul rise up to meet you
as the day rises to meet the sun.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Come let us sing to the Lord: let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.

You have conquered, O Lamb of God: lead us on to victory.

Psalm 44:3-7
For they did not take the land by their sword, nor did their arm win the victory for them: but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your countenance, because you favoured them.
You are my King and my God: you command victories for Jacob.
Through you we pushed back our adversaries: through your name we trampled on those who rose up against us.
For I do not rely on my bow: and my sword does not give me the victory.
Surely, you gave us victory over our adversaries: and put those who hate us to shame.

You have conquered, O Lamb of God: lead us on to victory.

Habakkuk 1:1-2:1 Revelation 12:7-17

You have conquered, O Lamb of God: lead us on to victory.

Prayers for Others

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Lord, any good thing that comes today is of your doing. Any victory over injustice, poverty, hunger, sickness, loneliness, displacement, and greed is by your might. We are merely channels for your work. Use us as you see fit and help us stand back when necessary. Amen.

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you,
wherever he may send you.
May he guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May he bring you home rejoicing,
at the wonders he has shown you.
May he bring you home rejoicing,
once again into our doors. Amen
