God’s Knowledge of Us

Read
Write out Jeremiah 1:5 on an index card.  Meditate on this verse.

“Before I shaped you in the womb,
   I knew all about you.
Before you saw the light of day,
I had holy plans for you:
A prophet to the nations –
that’s what I had in mind for you.”
            Jeremiah 1:5

Think
God told Jeremiah that he had plans for Jeremiah’s life before Jeremiah was even given his name.  What a claim from God!  Can you believe that God had plans for your life and knew everything about you before you were even conceived? Why or why not?

What emotions bubble to the surface when you consider that God knows you intimately?  Are you excited? Comforted? Scared? Anxious? Indifferent? Why?

If God already knows everything about us, why does he desire that we pray to him?

Pray
Meditate on this thought: The Creator of the universe, the living God, knows every possible thing about you.  As you do so, tell God what you are feeling and why.

Live
Take the index card and put it where you will see it often (for example, on your bedside table, taped to the mirror in the bathroom, taped to the dashboard of your car, or in your purse or wallet).  Whenever you look at it, read it and be reminded that God marked out a plan for your life long before you were born.
