If there’s one thing I have learned in my years in worship ministry, if (or when) I get stuck in prayer, giving my adoration, praise or glory to God, I turn to the Book of Psalms.

Absolutely fail safe.

The Psalms contain it all: lamentation, confession, praise, joy, glory, God’s sovereignty, faithfulness, help, salvation, mercy, grace and unending love for His people and so much more.

And it makes no matter which Bible version you prefer, the Psalms are constant, filled with the hope of heaven; they were songs that Jesus himself recited, so that makes them more than enough for us.
It also matters not if you sing, speak, read, memorise, or interpretively dance the Psalms; God is interested in what is in your heart? That’s what God is looking at.  Many of us have a favourite. Depending on the way you most love to worship, the Psalms contain something for you.

As many of you are aware, 1 September to 4 October has been set aside by the World Council of Churches as the Season of Creation.

This gives us wonderful opportunities to acknowledge God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit as Creator of all things.

The Psalms contain many references to God as Creator.
E.g. Psalm 8
1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

Psalm 95:6
Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

Psalm 121:2
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

Be encouraged, set aside some time today to meet with God in song and in creation.
