Lent is a time when we work at creating more space in our lives to draw closer to God.  And, at the same time, it can be a time when we are more aware then ever of the distance we sometimes feel from God, sometimes because of what we do and other times because of what we don’t do.  Today’s prayer speaks to this sense we sometimes have and it wisely reminds us of God’s grace for us, regardless of our actions or inaction.  As the saints have said, “All is grace.”

May God’s blessing be upon you as we pray together today,
Dianne

Infinite Distance

I call you my God, yet often,
the distance between us seems infinite,
then I rush our conversations and listen with half an ear.
I call you my friend and yet struggle to trust
that you’ve got my back, especially after all the times
I’ve pulled away and not chosen well.
I question how far your friendship will stretch.
Please, forgive me, God,
and remind me today that your love for me
is not propped up by my efforts.
That you’re here, not to be impressed, but to give life.
Amen.
