In the online service this week, there will be reminders that God has promised much to his people; arguably most importantly that the same God who saved the “Promised Land” for Jacob and all his descendants tells him in verse 16 15 “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
I am with you.
Our God. He reminds us again and again through scripture, “I am with you”.
Isaiah 43:5 “Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.”
Matthew 28:20 “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
This statement from the Creator of the universe, the Provider of all, the Lord of lords and King of kings, the Alpha and Omega, the Great I AM, Emmanuel (God with us) is beyond my comprehension and thoroughly astounds me. That He not only created me (and you), but that this passage, “I am with you” repeated throughout his Word is meant as a personal message for us here and now, each moment of every day.
I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again…this pondering of God being present with me always, just adds to the mystery of God, in my mind. This statement from God and the frequency of its repetition is ultimately reassuring.
We can rest assured that God, who made the stars, the galaxies, everything in them and beyond; who we know delivered and is delivering on His promises to the forebears of our faith, this God is bigger than any issues we could be facing right now. Are we going to get any answers as to why they happen this side of heaven? Possibly not, some possible glimpses though. Yet, our God is faithful! Our God is trustworthy and true! It’s not always easy, but He has always brought His people through.
I can believe in and trust in a God that saves through his own sacrifice, and keeps His word, like our God. I hope you will find a personal time of worship through these songs.

O Lord, Omnipotent, Infinite God,
who loved me before I was yet born,
who knows me even better than I know myself,
whose presence never leaves me,
and whose love for me never ceases.
I praise you, glorify you and give you thanks.
You are my God and my Saviour.
I worship you!
In the blessed name of Jesus Christ, Amen
