Gavin is retired with great memories of a very rewarding teaching career.
The most significant people in my life are… my wonderful family – wife and best friend, Anne, - our three children, their significant others, and our grandchildren who keep us active and young at heart….We feel blessed as they all live close at hand - Anne and I occasionally feel the need to go away on a trip!
Our church has… a strong community feel and a caring crew with Jesus at the helm – we set the sails and God makes the wind.
What surprises me with this stage of life is…I don’t remember being absent minded!
For relaxation… I love to putter about in my woodwork shop or visit our family float cabin in Barkley Sound and go fishing with family or friends. Before having arthritic knees, I was an enthusiastic jogger but I am reminded that laughing is like jogging on the inside.
If I was to live elsewhere…it could be in Yorkshire or on the west coast of this Island for a period of time, but I would always want to return to QB – friends and family – nothing’s more important as the days and years go by.
A favourite quote of mine is…from Churchill –“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”
